Fair use rationale for File:Gtap.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Gtap.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 10:47, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:News-Media-Channel.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 10:47, 10 June 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 10:47, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on AbleCommerce requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Thank you for uploading File:Gtap-award.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Image Screening Bot (talk) 13:21, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on AbleCommerce.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from AbleCommerce.com, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Empty Buffer (talk) 09:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to AbleCommerce.com. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Shadowjams (talk) 09:57, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to AbleCommerce.com. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your final warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you add inappropriate external links, as you did with this edit to AbleCommerce.com. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and promotional editing

[edit]

I see that on Talk:AbleCommerce.com you say "I am representative of AbleCommerce.com and I am creating Official Page of AbleCommerce.com on Wikipedia". Unfortunately this is inconsitent with Wikipedia's policies. Companies do not have "official" pages on Wikipedia, as Wikipedia articles are supposed to be independent of their subjects. Editing by representatives of the subject of an article is strongly discouraged by the conflict of interest guideline, and using Wikipedia to promote either a company or anything else is not permitted. Unfortunately "anyone can edit Wikipedia" is commonly misunderstood as meaning "anyone can add anything they like to Wikipedia", but this is a misunderstanding. You are, of course, very welcome to contribute to other areas of Wikipedia if you are interested in doing so, but editing on behalf of your company to create an "official" article for them is not acceptable. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:35, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your guidance

Please let me know, can I wrote an article about AbleCommerce and then i'll be able to put it on wikipedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adeelayoub (talkcontribs) 11:00, 16 June 2010

I would not encourage you to do so, because it is difficult for someone involved in an organisation to take an objective enough perspective to avoid conflict of interest problems, even if they are sincerely trying to be objective. However, "I would not encourage you to do so" is not the same as "no you absolutely can't". I should warn you, though, that if the company does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines then any article about it is likely to be deleted. If, despite those warnings, you still want to go ahead, I suggest looking at the pages linked to in my answer to a similar question on my talk page, which was posted anonymously but I guess was from you. Thanks for uploading File:AC-Wiki-logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

Unused file.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
